What To Expect

We understand that getting massages and being touched can be difficult for some clients depending on their history. Your experience, satisfaction and comfort are our number one priority. We do our best to not only provide a comfortable and professional environment, but also a safe space for clients to share, feel and express themselves. Trauma can affect everyone in a different way, and we understand that there may be times that clients can have an emotional release during their massage session. We are trained with skills and tools to help. Please communicate with your licensed massage therapist if you are having such experience and we will do our best to help you through that moment. As always, your input and feedback are always welcome and appreciated.

Thank you for choosing Nurtured Pathways Massage & Wellness for your massage and wellness needs.

whether this is your first visit or your 100th visit, this is what you can expect:

If this is your first visit or if it has been over two years since your last visit you will complete a history form and sign consent for your service. We try to email history forms prior to your appointment date, but if you do not receive it via email, you will be asked to complete the form before your appointment.

Once in the massage room, your Licensed Massage therapist will then go over your history form with you and do a short 10–15-minute consultation (possibly longer if needed). During the consultation, you will be asked about what you are seeking massage for (i.e.. pain, relaxation, physical pain due to trauma therapy, injury, etc.). As well as other questions pertaining to your goals, history or experience with massage therapy, etc. The licensed massage therapist may also offer possible add on services that may benefit your needs or goals.

You will then be instructed to undress to your comfort and/or lie on the table as appropriate for your session. The licensed massage therapist will exit the room to allow for privacy and modesty as you undress. Should you not be comfortable with undressing, please inform your licensed massage therapist prior to them leaving the room and they can adjust techniques or their treatment plan for your session accordingly.

During the session, the areas of which the licensed massage therapist works on during the massage session are 100% the clients’ choice and if any area is uncomfortable to have massaged, please inform the licensed massage therapist either prior to the session beginning and/ or during the session. The licensed massage therapist will undrape only areas of the body that they are working on, with the exception of the glutes. The glutes are normally worked on through the sheet, unless a technique is necessary for skin to skin contact. In those cases, the licensed massage therapist will ask for consent to undrape the glutes and use modest and appropriate draping techniques for your comfort. You are not obligated to consent to undraped gluteal work if you are not comfortable. Throughout the massage, the licensed Massage therapist will check-in with you regarding pressure levels and comfort. Please let your licensed massage therapist know if the pressure level needs to be adjusted higher or lower. Your comfort and satisfaction is our upmost priority, so the more you communicate the better we may deliver the best quality massage service for you. Some clients enjoy talking during sessions and others prefer a quiet space. You are always welcome to communicate that you would like minimal or no talking and a quieter space without judgement nor offense from your licensed massage therapist. Our session, regardless of intake and consultations are full durations of 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes of hands-on bodywork.

Once your session is complete, the therapist will quietly inform you that it is the end of your session, they will allow you a moment to transition while they wash their hands before exiting the room. If you need assistance sitting up from the table, please inform your licensed massage therapist. Once the massage therapist has left the room, take your time coming up and off of the able to dress and then exit the room to meet your licensed massage therapist at the front desk. Our office offers complimentary water, hot tea selections and treats in our reception area you are welcome to enjoy.

Our massage therapist or staff will then check you out for your massage session. Gratuity is not required but is appreciated. You will then be asked if you would like to reschedule your next massage session.

After you leave, we try to follow up with all clients after massage session. Typically, follow-ups are done within one month of your last appointment, but sometimes sooner depending on the session. Should you have any questions or concerns after your massage session, please feel free to contact us via phone, email or text message on our business cell: 630-209-1254.
